Each of us are the story we live, the values we believe, the accumulation of experience and skills we cultivate over time. This principle applies to all of us individually and as a collective, within our company. We are united by a common vision and enthusiasm. We are the essence of our ideas.
Our evolving story follows the path of a family of italian entrepreneurs. It began in 1970 with a business manufacturing wooden furniture, exporting to markets all over the world. Instead of commercial success, the younger generations of the family prefer to focus on the craft, constructive and creative aspects of the industry. The dedication to the project prevails, and in the 2000s the transformation begins. Focused to give shape to our ideas, conveying a personal vision of Italian design and developing our own method in the conception of a seat. With a unique cutting-edge professional experience and an authentic love for the product. A new independent factory grows that encompasses the commitment of a brother and sister with true passion for wood and design. Cantarutti becomes a brand. Designing projects and creating Italian designed chairs exported globally with our brand values at the core.
Since the very beginning wood has been our element. We work with respect for the environment and use only wood rom environmentally managed PEFC and FSC-certified forests.
The chair is an indispensable object, perhaps the most vital piece of furniture, the first and essential part. Yet for this reason the chair can often be overlooked. There are chairs and then, there are chairs. The construction of a shell, the solidity of the legs, the quality of the material, these are not variable factors. The quality of a chair cannot ignore a perfect construction, a careful selection of materials and attention to the finishes. The design of a chair for us, is the result of a meeting, a relationship. That object will be part of someone’s daily life. We like to think about our chairs used by people. The expression of a design focused on the individual, aesthetically attractive, functionally welcoming. To be used as part of a moment, a meeting, an exchange. Because the object chair is borne from the relationship and is itself expressed in the relationship. We create thinking about this.
Made in Italy
Our chairs are made in Italy and the entire manufacturing process is carried out in our factory. We have invested in state-of-art machinery and internalised a series of operations to give us greater control over the product and enable us to offer customers further quality assurance.
The path from design to production, controlled and implemented within our factory. The passion in respecting rules and people, in designing new ideas, in enhancing the best raw material. The enthusiasm, creativity and professionalism ingrained in the Italian design and production.
The sense of creating. The importance of artisan skill and technique, in synergy with the most advanced technological innovation, the partnership of tradition and development. The beauty of creating. The charm of an idea that chases an image, the natural transformation from design through to the model.
We make design chairs. With care, quality and innovation. Illuminated by the frame of the easter Alps and hills, our chairs are inspired by light and nature. Selectively sourcing our core material, wood, with the perfume and grains of the highest quality. And then metal, customised in any colour. We conceive the production of a chair, in the similar manner to that of a dress maker. With an internal upholstery workshop specifically dedicated to textile coverings. We like to do things well, always.
The majority of the production process takes place in our new 10.000 square metre plant, thanks to the highly skilled technical abilities of our internal prototyping department, which supports the design and production phase. The creative project becomes a prototype, which is subjected to endorsement at the CATAS facility, testing the durability and strength thoroughly to meet the tough industry standards our clients expect. Subsequently, the large-scale processing is entrusted to the latest generation CNC machines, the product is then transferred to the assembly department and finally placed in the warehouse.
Catalogued and ordered in our immense library, from the fragrant aisles of wood essences, thousands of raw chairs are available in the organised warehouse, ready to be finished according to customers specifications.
The staining plant
Located inside the factory, with the theatrical charm of a large curtain, which opens and closes changing colour to the world, our sophisticated staining plant is one of the largest in Europe, with a production capacity in excess of 1.000 chairs a day, and guarantees a finishing of excellence, thanks to cutting-edge technology.
Long shelves house catalogues of our precious fabric archive and thread rolls. The department is set up as a tailoring workshop, with the latest generation machines and customised templating patterns. This precision and our attention to detail offer the highest quality handcrafted finish.
We are precise in respecting the certification standards required for the quality of our products and processes that must be met. Both for the work environment and the sustainability of our production methods and social responsibility. We guarantee delivery on time, all over the world, providing dedicated customer service, with constant support.
When one is struck by the beauty on an object, sometimes you cannot place where the attraction comes from. It suddenly appears, that’s all. You feel it, although you don’t always understand it. Taste is a very personal thing, but the idea of beauty is something indefinitely and tacitly shared beyond styles and categories. Our design ethos recognises the creativity and power to make the difference, to arouse emotions beyond rationality, placing this and the function of the project at the centre. Our collections are designed by well-known (famous/recognised?) names and new talents, with a figure that believes mainly in the balance of forms and in refinement of the construction detail. Our particular ability to interpret and satisfy architectural and aesthetic needs, has always stemmed from a special harmony between Cantarutti and our Architects and Interior Designers, who look for a manufacturing partner capable of bespoke solutions in the contract market. Making a chair well also means being able to explain exactly how it is built and to be able to design variants or create complex parts of finishes upon order. We are like this, perfectionists by vocation. And our products are like us.
